Operating in Harlem/Upper Manhattan, Washington Heights, and the Bronx, Arches focuses on investing in and healing justice-involved youth, ages 16-24, on probation to give them a second chance at a bright future.
As part of their second chance, staff members present young adults with opportunities to further their education, gain employment, and step away from a life connected to the criminal justice system.
HOW IT WORKS
Funded by the NYC Department of Probation (DOP), Arches provides young adults with curriculum-based group mentoring used to transform the attitudes and behaviors that led to their criminal activity while protecting the dignity and humanity participants.
These sessions consist of two ninety-minute sessions and six months of weekly one-on-one mentoring sessions with a focus on developing several life skills.
Topics covered include developing responsible behaviors, handling difficult feelings, and managing relationships and communication.
